Date Night Makeup

Hey guys! Welcome to my first blog post. I wanted to create this blog in collaboration with Bianca because we have so many helpful tips and tricks to offer. People always ask me questions like, “How do you get your skin to look flawless?” or “How do you master the sharp winged liner?” and I feel like this blog would be perfect to answer all those questions. I hope you guys enjoy this blog! Feel free to leave a comment or email us with any requests on what you’d like to learn or see on Sophisticated Blondes.

For this look, I’ll be talking about date night makeup. When going on a date, I like to keep my makeup natural rather than looking like I have too much makeup on. Yes, I understand you want to impress the person you’re going on a date with, but applying too much makeup can make you look like you’re trying too hard. The goal is to look effortless! Below I have listed my favorite way to achieve this look!

  1. To achieve a glowy, flawless face, without looking ‘cakey’ or too ‘done up,’ click my YouTube video to see exactly how I do it!
  1. I always fill and shape my brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade in Chocolate and clean them up with Maybelline Fit Me concealer in the shade 20 (Sand).
  1. Now for the eyes!

  • First, I apply an eye shadow base to help the shadows last longer and prevent them from creasing. I used Benefit Cosmetics Stay Don’t Stray.
  • I like to set the base with a matte eye shadow closest to my skin tone. I’m using the shade, Buttery from Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette
  • I blended the shade, Sherbert into the crease and darkened it a bit with the shade, Hot Chocolate.
  • I love to highlight, so I applied the shade, Treasure on the brow bone and in the inner corner of the eyes.
  • To make the eyes pop, I applied Pink Champagne on the lid.
  • To elongate the eyes, I created a soft wing using a mix of Spirit Rock and Hot Chocolate and made sure to keep the shadow super close to the lash line. An easy tip to make the wing extra sharp: use concealer or foundation with a tiny, synthetic flat brush and ‘erase’ any mistakes you’ve made.
  • To brighten the whites of the eyes, I applied Rimmel Scandeleyes, Nude eyeliner, which is my absolute favorite!
  • On the lower lash line, I swept Hot Chocolate and Sherbert.
  • Apply your favorite mascara and lashes. Wearing false lashes is totally optional! I rarely wear falsies because my lashes are already long and just some mascara really does the job. My favorites at the moment are Too Faced Better Than Sex and Tarte Cosmetics Lights, Camera, Lashes. For this look, I applied Shop Cura lashes in the style Lotus.

  1. And lastly, the lips! I wanted to show two different options for lip colors. I wouldn’t suggest anything dark or bold so I chose a light pink and a nude. The light pink color is NYX Cosmetics Soft Matte Lip Crème in the shade, Milan. The nude stain is Anastasia Beverly Hills Pure Hollywood liquid lipstick. I love liquid lipsticks because they don’t move and they last hours on the lips! Be sure to apply lip balm to prevent them from drying.
  2. The last and final step to this makeup look is to spray a setting spray. I’ve been using M.A.C Fix+ to hydrate my skin and make it look fresh and glowy. Spraying this will also get rid of a ‘powdery’ face if you’ve applied too much powder.
